Plans are afoot for the purchase of two Q400 Bombardier aeroplanes for Cameroon Airlines Corporation, CAMAIR-co. The plans were part of discussions Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, Minister of Transport, held with Rene Cremonese, outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Cameroon.
The Canadian-made airplanes are intended to boost the activities of the national carrier which has been on its knees for several decades.
It is however not the first time the two officials are talking about the purchase of the aircraft. The minister of transport had held similar discussions with the Ambassador in December 2016 and later in April this year. In May 2016, Minister Mebe Ngo’o led a delegation to the headquarters of Bombadier in Montreal, Canada for same reasons.
Ambassador Rene Cremonese who spoke to press after the meeting with the transport minister this August 21, reassured his country is always ready to contribute to the development of Cameroon.
